Two-Day Session: Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23
Location: Room 28 D
Academic Director: Ziv Katalan
Competency: Management
We are drowning in data, but parched for knowledge. Your desk is covered with data and reports from vendors, plant managers, accountants, and financial planners. Yet, without the proper approach to help you structure and organize this information, the meaning is lost.
This course helps you understand the powerful decision models that have been used by industry leaders such as The Gap and Procter & Gamble. The modeling and decision making approaches in this program have applications in the business travel industry and beyond.
Our Approach
Using a “hands on” approach, you will be introduced to simple models and ideas that provide powerful qualitative insights into a spectrum of managerial problems. Faculty helps distinguish which problems are best solved quantitatively and then explore various models, including computer software. They also cover difficulties in generating relevant data and the “basics” of powerful, general-purpose tools for analysis, such as constrained optimization and simulation.
Who Should Attend
Managers who make decisions with organization-wide economic implications have benefited from this program. It is designed for managers at any level and is appropriate for managers with little or no exposure to formal management science tools. Participants need to be familiar with Microsoft Excel or a comparable spreadsheet program.
